Do you have an unpublished manuscript or know of someone who does? If you do, this is a must read

Believe it or not, some people have written a novel or nonfiction book and have been unable to find a publisher. They dejectedly put away their manuscript in a file drawer or a box in their closet or garage and forgot about the dreams they once had of being published. Such was the case for Alfredo E. Cardenas and Ricardo D. Palacios, both now published authors with MCM Books.

In 2015, Cardenas decided to do something about his novel Balo’s War, which he had written ten years earlier. He founded his own publishing house. He dusted off his manuscript, and with the help of his family, prepared it for publishing. He could do that because he had experience in publishing newspapers and magazines. He realized, however, that other authors did not have that experience, so he set up MCM Books to help them.

One such author is Ricardo D. Palacios, a practicing attorney in Laredo, who had in his files a couple of manuscripts written as long as thirty years before. With MCM Books’ help, earlier this year he published Chon, The Story of WWII Japanese Spy who Became a South Texas Vaquero. Today MCM Books is working with Palacios to publish his second waif manuscript entitled Judgement Reversed!

Judgment Reversed! delves into the realm of law and justice. The protagonist, an attorney, represents a humble rancher in a civil suit. One day the rancher realizes that there is a misplaced fence leading his neighbor to claim that he owned the land due to squatters' rights laws or adverse possession. The protagonist eventually wins the case proving that the neighbor did not establish adverse possession, but the defendant’s attorney decides to appeal the case, and things soon turn interesting.

The novel is a work of fiction inspired by true events and various cases that Palacios came across as an attorney. The history of South Texas is replete with instances where the original grantees similarly lost land.

Because of the great experience Palacios had in publishing with MCM Books, he decided to publish with MCM Books again.

I was impressed, really impressed with MCM Books. They are extremely helpful during this entire process, Palacios said.

“I first mentioned to Alfredo Cardenas, the editor, and publisher of MCM Books, a couple of weeks ago that I had a second unpublished manuscript and it was soon on its way toward publication.”

Within the next ten days, MCM Books will receive the complete rough draft, and the publishing process will move forward. Palacios is currently scheduling upcoming events in Laredo where he will be holding book signings, presenting his novels, and speaking to the community.

Be sure to check out Judgment Reversed! when the book debuts here at mcmbooks.com later this year.
